Traveling in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is what I call "home" in Central Asia, a country that first welcomed me with her vast horizons and striking contrasts. As the world’s ninth-largest country, its landscapes are as diverse as they are breathtaking.

From snow-capped mountains to deserts, from ancient Silk Road cities to futuristic skylines, few destinations can offer such a sense of scale, freedom, and discovery. Kazakhstan will make you feel small!

Nature & landscapes

Nature here is monumental. The Tian Shan mountains rise dramatically over Almaty, offering alpine lakes like Kolsay and Kaindy, where turquoise waters reflect forests that grow beneath the surface.

The Charyn Canyon carves its way through the desert, a natural wonder often compared to the Grand Canyon.

Across the vast steppes, wild horses still roam, while the natural parks offer the rarest animal and plant species.

In Kazakhstan, every journey feels like stepping into a different world, from the Martian landscapes of Mangystau to the incredible diversity of the Almaty region.

Culture & authenticity

Kazakhstan’s soul lies in its nomadic heritage. Hospitality is central to life and guests are welcomed with tea, bread, and warm smiles.

You may share a night in a traditional yurt, learn about eagle hunting, or witness local musicians bringing ancient instruments to life.

Cities like Almaty and Astana reveal another side of the country, dynamic and modern yet still tied to tradition.

Why Arbustan ?

At Arbustan, we go beyond sightseeing. We work with locals, nomadic families, community guides, local artists, artisans, and hosts, so that every journey supports local communities and brings travelers closer to authentic life in Kazakhstan.

Almaty has been my home for 3,5 years and this journey will take you to my absolute favourite places and let you meet the people that I call friends.
